Finding the best fantasy captain for EPL gameweek 38
imeToDraft looks at the final fixtures of the Premier League 2015/16 campaign and picks the perfect captain for your squad.
In our previous search for the right captain for game day 37 we made a huge bet on West Ham players, and the choice did not fully paid off. Fantasy Premier League managers might have celebrated Dimitri Payet’s impressive performance in the second consecutive game, but Daily Fantasy users did not enjoy the Hammer’s display.
All the fixtures of the final gameweek start at the exact same time, so we will get all the results after the final whistle.
Games with no clear captains
Everton – Norwich. The Liverpool-based side goes through a terrible spell, losing to Leicester last weekend and firing Roberto Martínez two days ago. Everton fans will try their best to forget this season, while the players will approach the tie with no particular motivation. The Canaries lost the hard battle to escape relegation, and this away game will not bring them any joy or benefit. Both sides have nothing to lose and to gain in this one, so you will not find a great captain here.
Newcastle – Tottenham. Newcastle was officially relegated from the top flight last weekend, and despite a great spell of 5 unbeatable games, the team is the biggest flop of the season. The Spurs stumbled in the chase for the EPL title, but keep fighting for the second spot with mixed results. Any player might deliver, yet putting bets on a particular one is tricky in this game.
Watford – Sunderland.Troy Deeney is definitely a great midfielder, but his creative skills have not reached the EPL top level players. Jermain Defoe does not always make strong and consistent displays. So we put those two aside. Sunderland luckily escaped relegation and comes to this game with relaxed attitude. Sam Allardyce already makes plans for the next season, so in this game we will see the standard lineup and predictable strategy from the Englishman.
West Bromwich – Liverpool. With Jurgen Klopp the Reds reached Europa League final, and the German manager will rest the key players ahead of the crucial match in the campaign. West Bromwich has a chance to grab a point playing against a reserve team. We should not expect too much form the sides, and Salomon Rondon is not the perfect captain for your side, but choosing from Liverpool is a waste of time either.
Games with great fantasy captains
Arsenal – Aston Villa. The Gunners secured a spot in the Champions League for the next season, but their rivalry against Tottenham is not over. The London-based teams fight for the highest place in the table, and Arsenal will come to the last game of the season in full power. Villa finished last in this campaign, and will be an easy target for Arsenal’s in the final home game before the summer break. Alexis Sanchez is our choice as the best captain in this one, and we also suggest to bet on Olivier Giroud, while the injured Welbeckstays at the substitutes’ bench.
Chelsea – Leicester. The clash between the previous and the new champions is a highly anticipated game. The Blues with the mighty Eden Hazard will try to prove this season was a pure misfortune and defeat the newly-crowned Foxes. Leicester will make its bet to finish the season on an impressive note. Vardy is still fighting for the top scorer award and will try to net at least one in this away fixture. With both Diego Costa and Willian missing the game, the Londoners will build their game through Hazard, and that makes the Belgian a great captain.
Manchester United – Bournemouth. Bournemouth likes to control possession, but in the away game against United this plan will not work out. The Red Devils still have chances in finish in top 4, and the players will be focused and prepared for the game. Martial gained great from, Mata delivers in every match, and both players are perfect captains for the attacking side.
Southampton – Crystal Palace. The Saints put together a trulypowerfuloffensive combo with Tadic, Mane, Davis and Long all shining in the last fixtures. The players bagged 10 goals in last three games, helping the club to record three victories.
Stoke City – West Ham.SlavenBilic instilled brave and rock spirit intohis side, and the guys will fight till the final minute of the season. The Hammers will put great pressure on Stoke, but the opponent might give a strong response. Marko Arnautovicis the main threat, while Dimitri Payet will be the major attacking force in West Ham.
Swansea – Manchester City. The Citizens are fighting to secure top 4 finish, and the away fixture against the Welsh side will not be an easy walk for the powerhouse. Sergio Aguero comes to the final match of the season in great form, and takes one of the first places in the table of best captains. Kevin De Bruyne shows great progress in the club and competes with the best players for a place in the lineup, yet Sergio is evidently more preferable for this tie.
Check the bookie
We’ve checked the highest coefficients for the best total for a team. The number higher than 1.5 indicates the team is the most attacking one.
Arsenal will net several goals, so some bookies do not give the coefficient of 1.5, but rather 2.0. The Gunners take the lead in our comparison, while the other teams have:
Southampton – 1.37
Manchester City – 1.38
Manchester United – 1.43
The perfect captain for the EPL game week 38
We’ve put all the stats and achievements of the best players in last three game weeks into one table.
Alexis Sanchez is the player that beats all the competition in Arsenal once again, with Olivier Giroud coming as a great alternative. Dimitri Payet shows great results this season, and remains one of our favorite captains for the game day. The Saints put high hopes on Long and Tadic, and so do we. United delegated the promising forwardMartial into the table. Hazard and Arnautovic impress with great stats, still those figures are not strong enough for captaincy. Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero could have been at the top of the table, but after the frustrating away game in the Champions League are not even in top 3.
The list of top captains for the Premier League game week 38:
- Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
- DusanTadic (Southampton)
- Olivier Giroud (Arsenal) / Shane Long (Southampton) / Anthony Martial (MU) / Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
